Garage Door Repair You Can Count On

A garage door is the heaviest moving part of your home, and when it fails it is both a security risk and a daily headache. First Garage Door Repair handles every kind of breakdown, from snapped torsion springs and frayed cables to off-track doors and dead openers, usually the same day, with 24/7 emergency repair available when a door is stuck or a car is trapped. We are based in Boca Raton and run Palm Beach County routes daily. Homeowners and property managers often call the same work overhead garage door repair or overhead door service, and we handle it all: sectional overhead doors, one-piece tilt-up doors and the commercial roll-up doors on warehouses and storage units across Boca Raton.

Coastal salt air and humidity wear out springs, cables and rollers years before their time, so we carry corrosion-resistant, high-cycle parts on every truck. You get one honest, upfront price before we start, and we will always tell you whether a repair or a full replacement is the smarter call. For typical price ranges, see our garage door repair cost guide.

Amarr and Clopay Garage Door Repair in Boca Raton

Amarr and Clopay are the two door brands we see most often in Boca Raton, and we repair both every week. On Amarr doors (Heritage, Classica, Stratford, Lincoln and Oak Summit) the usual calls are a snapped torsion spring, worn nylon rollers, a frayed lift cable and a single dented bottom section. Amarr sells individual replacement sections, so a dent from a bumper does not mean a new door. Clopay doors (Gallery, Coachman, Classic and the Avante aluminum series) use the same torsion hardware, so spring, cable and drum replacements use parts we carry on the truck. We also replace struts, hinges and the bottom seal on both brands and service the hurricane-rated versions sold across Palm Beach County. Every Amarr or Clopay repair carries our 3-year workmanship warranty. Not sure which brand you have? The label is usually on the inside of the door, on an end stile or the top section.

Garage Door Repair FAQ

How much does garage door repair cost?
Most repairs fall between $150 and $350. Broken spring replacements typically run $200 to $500 installed in matched pairs, opener repairs $150 to $300, and roller or cable work around $125 to $250. You always get one flat, upfront price before we start.
Can you repair my garage door the same day?
Yes. Most calls across Palm Beach County are handled the same day, often within the hour. We carry common springs, cables, rollers and opener parts on the truck.
What are the most common garage door problems?
Broken springs are number one, followed by worn rollers and cables, off-track doors, dead or grinding openers, and misaligned safety sensors. In coastal Florida, salt-air corrosion drives most of these.
Do you warranty your repairs?
Yes, every repair is backed by a 3-year workmanship warranty, and we use high-cycle, corrosion-resistant parts built for the South Florida climate.
Do you offer garage door maintenance and tune-ups?
Yes. We offer annual maintenance and tune-ups across Palm Beach County. A tune-up includes lubricating the moving parts, tightening loose hardware, checking the door balance and spring tension, testing the safety sensors and auto-reverse, and inspecting the cables and rollers for wear. Catching a worn part early is far cheaper than an emergency repair after it fails, and in our coastal climate an annual tune-up noticeably extends the life of the door.
What does a garage door inspection include?
A full inspection covers spring and cable condition, roller and track alignment, opener operation and force settings, the photo-eye safety sensors and auto-reverse, the door balance, and all mounting hardware. We give you an honest report of what is fine, what is wearing, and what needs attention, with upfront pricing for any recommended work and no pressure.

Start with the symptom, not the part

Most people calling us cannot name the broken component, and they should not have to. What they can describe is what the door is doing. So here is the diagnostic path our technicians actually run, written plainly, so you know roughly what you are dealing with before anyone arrives.

The door will not move and feels enormously heavy

Almost always a broken spring. Look above the door for a coiled spring with a clean two or three inch gap in it. Stop using the opener immediately, because running it against a dead spring is how a few hundred dollar repair becomes a new opener as well. Detail on our spring replacement page.

The door starts down then reverses back up

Usually the safety sensors, the two small eyes near the floor on each side. They knock out of alignment easily, and a blinking light on one confirms it. If the sensors are clean, aligned and lit, the next suspects are the close force setting on the opener or a physical obstruction in the track.

The door is crooked, jammed, or came off the track

A cable has snapped or slipped off its drum, or a roller has failed, and the door usually hangs visibly lower on one side. Do not try to force it level. The cables are under tension and a door out of track can drop. Garage door cable replacement is always done as a pair with the drums inspected, and roller replacement with sealed nylon rollers is usually finished in the same visit, both around $125 to $250 installed.

The opener runs but the door does not move

The trolley has disconnected from the arm, or the drive gear inside the opener has stripped, which is common on chain drives past about fifteen years. A stripped gear is often repairable for far less than a new opener.

The door grinds, rattles, or shakes the house

Worn steel rollers are the usual answer, followed by hardware loosened by years of vibration. Nylon rollers and a proper tightening pass transform how a door sounds, and it is one of the cheapest jobs we do.

The remote or keypad stopped working

Start with the battery, then reprogramming. If neither works, the receiver logic board in the opener may have failed, which is worth checking before replacing the whole unit.

What we usually finish in one visit

Spring replacement, cable and drum work, roller and hinge replacement, track realignment, off track resets, sensor alignment and force adjustment, opener gear and logic board repairs, remote and keypad programming, panel replacement on common door lines, and full safety rebalancing. We carry the parts that fail most often in this market on the truck, which is why most Boca Raton calls close the same day they come in.

When we tell you to replace instead of repair

We would rather do the smaller job. A door is worth repairing when the panels are sound and the frame is square, because springs, cables, rollers and openers are all renewable parts. We recommend replacement when the bottom section has rusted through, when an impact has bent the frame out of square, when panels are delaminating, or when a pre-code door is the weak point on a house being prepared for storm season. If it is close, you get both numbers and you choose.
